What do the famous hockey players of the past from the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks all have in common?
They have all been part of the Brockville Winter Classic. Since 2015 Brockville has been home to the Winter Classic. This signature event celebrates winter, hockey and most importantly gives back to the community. The Winter Classic has raised a significant amount of money for the Brockville Rotary Park revitilization.
This year the Brockville Winter Classic features the Heroes Of Motown. Detroit Red Wing alumni participating in this event include Chris Chelios, Todd Bertuzzi, Todd Gill, Randy Ladouceur, Brad Marsh, Brad May, Wayne Presley, Al Iafrate and Darren McCarty. This year Chris Chelios is the fourth NHL Hall Of Famer to take part in the Brockville celebration. Others have included Guy Carbonneau, Ray Borque and Denis Savard. The annual hockey celebration weekend that raises money for Rotary Park features an exhibition game involving the alumni of an Original Six NHL team as well as the local Tim Hortons all-stars squad.
